My Big News + Ways To Relax

So when this hits Facebook it’s a bit of a sneak preview to my family as some don’t know I’m getting married! I know it’s daft right but the invites haven’t gone out yet as it’s a project in progress. Then again if I can get the invites I’m looking at from Etsy then I’ll show you them once they have been sent out. Now the date of the “event” is gonna be on Halloween I know what your thinking cheesy, odd & mental but that’s us in a nutshell. Anyone that knows us gets that it makes perfect nonsense!

Let The (as good an excuse as any for a) Relaxing Day Begin

So on with the only wedding related bit of this but you can replace it with your favourite fashion or beauty bible i.e Elle or Allure magazine for me. Today however it’s a new genera for me & most definitely the only bridal magazine I’ll be reading up to October.

Rock n Roll Bride

Rocknrollbride - issue 1 - magazine

Written by the very talented Kat Williams, the anything that’s considered alternative style wedding blogger & now Editor of her own magazine. My only sadness is it’s bi-monthly and somewhere in my head I thought it was fortnightly, ahhh! I will just have to read and re-read. Spend my days going through older posts on the her blog getting lot’s of ideas. RocknRollBride is the greatest guide for bride & grooms who are looking to do things with a little more uniqueness. The magazine has lots of real wedding with ways to take inspiration from them, Kat does an agony aunt piece which is useful if you have a question for her & diy tutorials to spruce things up. And Kat was right when she said when you get your first bridal magazine you start reading & devour the entire thing in one sitting. It’s a great way to relax.

Face Masks

Time To Relax - Superdrug Sheet Mask

Now you can just pick your favourite one or if this is a less often thing the sachet ones are good too. I like the Montagne Jeunusse (can’t pronouns them either) ones, more the peels than the clay type as they’re good for blemish prone skin. The one I’ve used is a new one for me it’s a sheet mask & purse friendly. These are the New Superdrug Facial Sheet Masks & they are £1.29 each, I’ll tell you more when I’ve tried all three of them out.

YouTube + Blogs

So it’s already my addiction but hey let’s make it yours too. Need a new beauty routine or something more specific for your skin care woes then this is the place to go. I wouldn’t go as far to say take it with a pinch of salt but do remember everyone has their own opinion just like blogging & sometimes they’re different. If I need a skin care guru then it’s Caroline Hirons here on her blog (formerly know as Beauty Mouth) & Youtube. For makeup there’s a fair few but the faves are Miss Budget Beauty( (UK), Tati (USA), Sharon Farrell (Irish in Australia) & LetzMakeup (Ireland) so depending on what brands you can get hold of one of those will suit.

Bath Time

If your like me then baths aren’t fun without bubbles, it’s a necessity I can’t do without. Weather it’s Badedas which creates epic amounts of foam or just your favourite Radox scent it’s a sure-fire way to make you stop. If you risk your mobile to reply to a text in the bath then you already have problems my friend, im afraid even I can’t help you with that one. If you like a but of luxury then as always I suggest Philosophy 3 in one, you can use it as bath foam, shower gel & even shampoo. At the moment I have 3 in stock due to sales & Birthday pressies, the scent Cinnamon Buns is my all time favorite, vanilla birthday cake a soft cake scent & Raspberry Sorbet has a lovely fresh vibe to it. If you’re not a foam person you can always try bath oils, I’ve always wanted to try the Aromatheraphy Associates out but they’re a little expensive for me. Another treat are the lush bath bombs or a little more adult version the bath melts & bubble bars. My faves are You’ve Been Mangoed, The Comforter & Mmmelting Marshmallow Moments all are heavenly scented.

I’ve talked about these before but I just can’t help it when I have a new scents in these. There always worth talking about! I managed to end up with three of the Philosophy 3 in 1 Shampoo, Shower Gel & Bubble Bath this year between Christmas & my Birthday. Now based on the levels you can see in the photo you’d think that you could guess which is my favourite but you might be wrong…

November Empties & Lots Of Them!

November Beauty Empties 2014 - 1

It’s time again for me to go through my all my empty products. I didn’t do one October which is why I seem to have so many of them. I’ve included my fellas bits as well at the bottom, it’s not just us girls that get through stuff.

November Empties

This first one lasted me about a month,  the Urban Decay Crisp Pear & Sweet Vanilla Dry Shampoo. This up to now out of all dry shampoos has been my most loved one. It has a nice scent, hides the grease without looking white on my brunette hair. It’s not completely invisible you still have to work it in but it’s a lot easier than others. Can I justify the £4.99? I think so but I’d still say Batiste is almost as good. See Dry Shampoos Review. Next up is a T.K.Maxx purchase I found in their clearance department at £5 instead of £32. It’s the Christian Breton Aha Exfoliating Lotion. This is basically a chemical exfoliant liquid I used this non stop for three weeks day & night but I just wasn’t wowed by it. I couldn’t see much difference other than my skin going a little red after using it. I still want to try more exfoliating toners just not this one! Philosophy 3 in 1 Bath Foams are bubble bath for adults, there not cheap at £14 a bottle but they are a little luxury when you need some me time. This one was the coconut version, I liked this but didn’t love it. I prefer the Cinnamon Buns scent which fills my bathroom. The coconut seems to smell great in the bottle but disappeared too fast in the bath. A product that surprised me was the Perricone Md Gentle Cleanser. I wrote a review on this here and I stand by that review. I didn’t like this but because it was a gentle cleanser it didn’t feel anything more or less than any others I’ve used. I’m guessing someone with sensitive skin may get more out of it. What I did want to point out is I wrote that review thinking it was going to run out soon. That was back at the end of August, so its taken another 3 months to use up. For how long I’ve been using it almost every day and night it almost justifies the £35 price tag. I didn’t pay that much for it but even with it lasting so long I still couldn’t spend that much on a cleanser.

November Beauty Empties 2014 - 2

I seem to have gotten through a lot of face masks this month r rather just finished them up.The Good Things Manuka Honey mask I wrote about here so I won’t say much other than I’d buy it again, nice scent & felt like it was helping. The next one is The Body Shop Warming Mineral Mask, it does what it says & you do feel the warming effect. What I found with this is it’s very sticky, doesn’t dry down & when it slowly moves down your face it tastes awful if you get it on your lips. My face did feel soft after this one but it’s all too messy. I left the Origins Clear Improvements mask for last as I really did love this one the most. I only got a travel size as it’s expensive at £10 for 50 ml but I’m tempted to get another for Christmas. This felt like it was doing good every time I used it. This one dries down, you do have to use a flannel to get it off otherwise you’d be there all night. This helped to dry spots out & calmed them down without drying the rest of your skin out.

November Beauty Empties 2014 - 3

I couldn’t leave out the fellas empties as I think it’s useful knowing what they like too. I’m writing this & he’s telling me what he thought about them. Let’s get The Body Shop Kistna out-of-the-way because he goes through these often. He uses this for everything, beard, body & hair it’s a good all-rounder. It smells masculine without being like Old Spice. The Scaramouche & Fandango Condition (best blokes brand name ever) was from T.K.Maxx otherwise he would have never tried it. He liked the body wash but the conditioner just wasn’t all that nice. It made his hair feel like after it had dried it got dirty faster than regular conditioner.Last but not least another from The Body Shop, Maca Root Face Scrub. It cleans really well, he used this through his beard and it didn’t feel itchy afterwards which has happened with others. He really likes the smell which is the same as the Mac Root stick & spray deodorant that he likes. However he is warning me to tell you the face wash doesn’t smell as nice, enough that he won’t use it.

Philosophy At Bath Time – It’s Been One Week….

When I think of a week going by it seems so small but to have not written at all during that time it feels like forever. I’ve moved in to what compared to the flat we had is like a mansion. It’s not in real life but I’m just not used to having space to do anything and that’s fine but I almost have fallen into adult territory. Anyhow the room I love is the smallest one but it’s the bathroom. Repeat Bath Room! Not had one of those for a long time as we had a shower in most places we’ve lived. The proof below was terribly photographed but I was half asleep at the time after moving boxes.

Philosophy Bath Time Bubbles

On to the important stuff I can now make full use of my Philosophy Cinnamon Buns 3 in 1 shower gel, bath foam and shampoo. As a shower gel I’ve already become addicted to it as I wrote here but as the ultimate bath time bubble  treat this is divine. The scent fills the room as the water heats up it smells like freshly baked cinnamon rolls just out of the oven. It gives the same softening effects making my skin feel moisturized as I get out of the bath just enough to keep me going before I find a body butter. It’s super foaming and I don’t need to used any more than I would if I had lathered it up on a body polisher. As you can see in the photo it looks like I’ve barely used this but it is a hefty 480 ml bottle and I’ve used it 90% of the time in the shower with the occasional swap out of my Lush Snow Fairy since Christmas.

Philosophy - Cinnamon Buns Shower Bath Shampoo

It also comes with a £14 price tag which for bubble bath sounds a lot but I have a feeling this will come up in an empties post some time around June if I used only this. So economically I think it will work out the same as me buying multiple cheaper ones and using more to get the same luxe bath treat. Maybe it will be in next Decembers empties if I use other bits in between…

Cinnamon Buns Take Snow Fairys No1 Spot As Favorite Shower Gel

When I think of Christmas the first thing I think is Lush Snow Fairy shower gel and when it will be coming out, it’s my girly comfort zone and one of few things I don’t mind glitter in. That being said and it’s there in the title I have a new favourite. When I think of shower gel if I’m being honest the clean bit is second to the scent. I know that which ever shower gel I buy it’s going to get my skin clean and it’s always used after a scrub so it’s not got that much work to do.
