Why do I need to nourish my hair?
Long story short my hair has been abused for about the last decade it needs some tender loving care. It’s been dyed black multiple times, bleached quite a few and then had just as many colours placed on top of it. I decided a few years back if I carried on like that then I’d probably lose it. So now the closest to dye I get is the Lush Hennas which should nourish the hair without wrecking it. Hopefully in a few weeks I’m gonna have another go at, the last failed miserably when I forgot to warm it up and just used hot water like a muppet.
It’s at a long length, thick and coarse texture. I find it dry a frizzy most of the time but after a couple of days at work my roots are oily again. I heat style on weekends to straighten it but I do use heat protection but it can only do so much.
Toni & Guy Nourish – Cleanse, Condition and Reconstruction Mask
I go through different hair trios like this all the time and I’m not too picky and it’s usually in the mid price range depending on what’s on offer. These usually last between 6-8 weeks depending on how often I use the mask instead of conditioner. Oddly enough I don’t love or hate the smell it’s just a bit blah if anything and it’s the only thing I prefer from the James Brown range which has a more just left the hairdresser luxe scent.
The first part is cleanse, this is a nice shampoo but I can’t put my finger on anything in particular that makes it any better that any other. I did find that because I wash it out in the bath water it didn’t take forever to wash out like some shampoos. It didn’t leave any residue but neither did it feel striped. Then on with the conditioner, something I thought happened with all conditioner is avoid the roots or they go oily immediately but over the many weeks of use this hasn’t been an issue. I like to get this through my fringe and rub it well into my hair because otherwise it feels super dry compared with the rest of my hair.
I have to say though the best bit is the hair mask, I can put this on after shampooing and leave it in for the entire bath and have no problem washing it back out. I know most won’t like it being in a pot as would be awkward in a shower but I found that because I could see what was left I didn’t waste it by being over zealous and squeezing too much out if it was in a tube. As you can see in the photo there not much left but I am getting to the end of each of the which is why I wanted to let you guys know what I thought. This can’t fix split ends or work miracles but it makes my hair softer and a lot more manageable. I probably shouldn’t say this but I’m pretty lazy during the work week when it comes to dealing with my hair. So after a bath I let it dry over night and don’t brush it in the morning I just tie in back. I can spend half the day readjusting my pony tail and pulling the band tight again. So why do I tell you this , because however knotted I think it is I can usually spend a minute or two brushing and its tangle free again. On many occasion many years ago it could take a good 20 minutes to do the same and a lot of pain too.
This can’t fix but it can be a good solution short-term while my hair grows out. I picked these up from Boots and at the moment they are on a 3 for 2 offer.
