Lipstick scares me sometimes. A lip pencil however feels like you have more control so a velvet matte finish felt like it could be what I was looking for. When these first came out there was so much hype on Youtube. Can Nars lip pencils stand the test of time? I think starting off with a nude shade was a good idea to build confidence, until I whisper the shade Sex Machine.
A Velvet Matte Shade for Beginners
For your first foray into lip colour getting something close to your lip colour can really help build your confidence. You don’t have to worry so much about wear time, being able to eat or even sip your drink. Tending to do eye makeup first you can get a little carried away with it. Then you get to your lips & wonder what will match. This is where a great neutral will tie your makeup look together, it doesn’t have to be the focal point of your look.
Sex Machine, Really?
When I bought this I told myself I only need one. I’m already regretting that statement, made out loud to my partner! This particular shade is made for those learning to apply makeup. If I can apply this in one go & look this good then anyone can. It glides on & doesn’t drag in the slightest. This one has a bit of shimmer to it but very subtle, not glittery in the slightest. Sex Machine is a warm nude rose pink tone The velvet matte formula sits comfortably on your lips. It’s matte finish still gives shape and definition to your lips without that flatness some mattes do.
Nars Sex Machine is the perfect my lips but better shade.
This is a long wear lip pencil that does eventually fade but doesn’t leave you with a patchy finish. I think the packaging is cleverly designed. The lid presses on but doesn’t click but don’t worry it won’t squish your product. The fit means it pops back in if pressed in too far.
I want more, I can’t afford too obviously so I will have to keep an eye out for other versions. I know I’ve seen a Max Factor one similar so maybe a dupe. I still attempting lipsticks in the hopes I can find one that I can actually wear without making a mess!
