I love the way makeup can really change my mood, a little pick me up that can change how my day goes down. I was search mode looking at every Youtube video possible to find a foundation that could handle hot Summer days without melting off my face. As a big fan of Wayne Goss I watched his videos & decided I needed it! When I finally got round to Mac on a day it wasn’t swarmed with girls I picked up Mac Studio Fix Powder Plus.
I choose Mac over other brands I’d seen on Youtube because of their shade range. I have very pale skin which often is too light for pharmacy (drugstore) foundations. The Studio Fix Power has a massive 49 shades. I can’t even think of another brand that offers that kind of choice.

I do like that when Mac isn’t so busy they have staff on hand who know a bit more about the products they offer. They will helps to shade match you or direct you to products that you might not have considered. I know this is a sales tactic but it’s one that is more often beneficial to customers. I can try the makeup on before I buy it & know if it looks right or not. The shade I bought was NW10.
I’ve often used a powder to set a liquid foundation but this is first for me to use it alone. I always thought that a powder foundation would be too light but this is very much buildable. The brush above is the one I use with it, it’s actually an Eco Tools blush brush. The smaller head means I can apply an all over light coverage then go back in where I need it most. On very lazy days I leave my cheeks with a sheer layer instead of apply blush as they’re pretty darn rosy to begin with.
It’s a really finely milled powder so I don’t end up a cakey mess. I top up through the day with the powder puff provided that sits neatly in the case beneath the powder. This feels comfortable to wear & feels light as if it wasn’t there. While I still learn what my own techniques are I find the Urban Decay Setting Spray perfect for those moments when I’ve gone a little overboard . I’ve also started applying my concealer first underneath this particular foundation like invisible coverage.
I like that it’s more travel friendly even to the point of using the powder puff for full application. When on an overnight stay keeping the packing as light as possible is essential!
