Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil In Damned - Mi

Damned But In A Good Way

When I first bought one of the Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencils in Sex Machine I really did believe that I wouldn’t need to buy anther. Not because they aren’t as good as everyone say but because they are £17.50 and that for me is well a fair amount. I had the chance at Christmas time to pick up anther though and spent over a weekend visiting multiple times the Nars counter and finally going with this one. Sex Machine was very much the perfect nude without washing my skin tone out. Damned on the other hand is a pink hue but with a purple undertone to it. On me this is quite a bright shade compared with my usual darker shades I seem to be choosing lately. I love how simple they can be to apply and I do my mattes for sheer convenience along with the pencil application I find more straight forward than a regular lip bullet. You don’t get a perfect sharp edge either which can look a little too over done when I want it for day time wear.

An Alternative Way To Wear Damned

When I did get this in the bullet it did look a darker shade and I did still want that option but still with the Nars velvet matte finish that I have previously enjoyed. This is where some Deception comes in.

When I say Deception I’m actually referring to the Topshop Lip Liner I bought a few weeks back. This has been a lip life saver as I really hate when some of my favourite lip products bleed. This has really helped but instead of just lining I’ve been applying this all over underneath as a base and then applying Damned over it. This way I get the shade and the matte texture I love. Along with this I can even out my lip shape a little better.

If you want more control but don’t wish to alter the shade I find applying a little lip balm just before you use lip liner helps to sheer out the shade deception enough that when you apply the Damned lip pencil you get an even shade without the lip liner standing out.

I picked mine up in Selfridges but they don’t have it in stock and neither do Nars but it looks like it’s still available at Space Nk but they charge £18 which seems odd.
