As I write this I’ve just had my 28th Birthday which I spent uneventfully eating cake! It’s pretty normal for most people to do that but it’s my mini tradition as often I have rarely done anything in the past to celebrate it. However I’m trying to come up with something different each year, you can see my latest choice here. As my birthday is so close to Christmas most pressies get intermingled so I decided I show you not just those but the sales bargains I’ve picked up too.
Pressies From My Parents
My mum & dad got me the Coca Cola socks & Nails Inc Coco Cola Perfect Ten Minis because I’ve always collected bits from the brand over the years. I’ve already worn the nail varnishes a few times & it even comes with a Nail Envy nail strengthener which I’ve always wanted to try. We also got the penguin bauble along with a snowman they’re personalised & hand painted in Sheffield Steelers colours. I’m gonna write more about these soon as we have a few pieces now all from the same place from my family & I love them. I also got a Gorjuss tote bag as I’d mentioned I wanted to cut the ridiculous number of plastic bags coming into our house.
I very indulgently treated myself to a Ysl Blush Volupté brush as it reminded me of another one from Dior a year or so back which was also bright pink it was £32 down to £16 in House Of Fraser in-store. This is a great place to pick up specific beauty products on sale, often its shades that haven’t sold but occasionally brushes & mascara are in there too, John Lewis also had similar sales on counter. The Kiko Lid brush next to it was £5.40 also half price along with the Anti-aging peeling scrub at £3.40 (no I’m not expecting miracles). As I can’t go near a T.K.Maxx without going in I bagged myself some more Japonesque Defining Razors for £3 see the link for my post on why these are a must have!
Sunglasses At Christmas
Another mini tradition is my inevitable purchase of Vans Sunglasses. I always pick them up in the sale because I love the retro shape & they always have funky prints. At £7.50 a pair I don’t have to worry about them & always have some in my bag for those rare sunny occasions we Brits get.
When in Meadowhall I wanted to visit the Le Creuset store as the Sales are the only time we can afford something from there. I guess it wasn’t meant to be as its changed back to the Collard Mason store it was previously. However not such a bad thing as I managed to get a necklace & quite a big one for me, a bit of a statement piece but I really like it. Another odd one was the Yankee Candles wick trimmer as I finally picked up one of the large size candles this year. This was after hearing Miss Budget Beauty go on about how useful it is in this post here.
Home Bits & Bobs
On Christmas day I had an urge to shop online! I swear I looked everywhere I could think of to find something beauty related but nothing stood out to me. However I have wanted this plate set since I saw it online at Urban Outfitters. My fella has a beard & I decided I need them but the £30 price tag was a tad steep for two plates. However in the sale the Bernard & Samuel plates were £15 which I could accept for just how darn pretty they are. Along with it I got the Wreck It Journal for half price, I’ve always been interested in having one for those days I just need to mess something up! I also picked up a lovely new note pad from M & S for £3 for blogging notes.
Finally on my Birthday I had a mini splurge on some more random pieces. In Paperchase I got these Tough Cookies cutters for £6.50 (half price) which are just too beautiful not to buy. Not in line with healthy eating but I think for a special treat they’re awesome. I saw this from John Freida & had to buy it, I love the Smooth Start conditioner & bought it at least 3 times last year. This is the brand new Forever Smooth range & it’s in Boots £7.99 or 2 for £8 (yes I bought 2), but will it beat the other? After becoming obsessed with the Una Brennan Vit C Cleansing Oil I had to pick up the Micellar Water. I want to see how good it can get my make-up off it might be a double cleanse duo. Last but not least was another T.K.Maxx purchase (different shop to the one above) I got a The Balm – Balms Away eye make-up remover balm. However after looking on the back the main ingredient is mineral oil! So we will see how that one goes!
Let me know what your favourite Christmas pressie was this year?
