I’m pretty sure whatever I do with my hair I will still have that daft fluffy bit on top. My hair looks shockingly straight otherwise. A little bit more so to a discovery that I’ll be sharing in the week. We ummed and ahhed all of Saturday if we were gonna go to the cinema and it wasn’t until the good hair day hit that I decided it must not be wasted. We both wanted to see How To Train Your Dragon 2 as we loved the first one so much. We didn’t have much time so I had to choose my make up carefully and it did end up in a bit of a dash to not miss the bus but we managed.

I knew that I wanted to give my new Mac Pro Longwear Lipcreme in Positively Dashing a chance so I worked with that in mind. Another berry shade that drew me in with the long wear promise in mind. I used the Clinique All About Lips to prep them also a new addition it’s a creamy serum up apply to and around the edge of your lips. I first applied primers, the Benefit Porefessional to my nose and the Nivea Hydrating primer to mainly any areas where spots were finally disappearing. For my base I used the Mac Select Cover-Up under my eyes and any spots the went over with the Mac Studio Fix Powder to give an even finish. I then applied the Clinique All Over Colour to my cheeks and fixed this with the Urban Decay Setting Spray which I’m worried I’ve almost used up this one. The eyes were pretty simple just the repeatedly used Natural Collection shadow for my eyebrows which I’m trying to find something to replace it that doesn’t need a brush. I applied the Benefit Lemonaid to my eyelids right up to the brow, it corrects any redness I have. You do have to set it with a powder which I just used a pale matte from the Mua Undress Me Too palette. The final piece to finish the look was the Bare Minerals Cake Liner, you can’t get this particular shade as it is discontinued but the product is still available. You use it pretty much the same way I do with the Bourjois Intense using the Urban Decay Setting Spray to make it liquid. The Bare Minerals cake liner is very pigmented and you only need a tiny amount with an angled brush to do both eyes. It’s very easy and any fixing is easily done with a wet cotton bud.

Should You see How To Train Your Dragon 2?

Hell yes. Kids will love it and we definelty did. If I’m been honest though we saw it in Imax and you really don’t need too. 3D was good but enough to add something a bit extra to the film. I love that it’s set 5 years on from the first so the characters have developed. I did nearly cry so I’m just warning you there are a few very sad scenes. I love seeing toothless though so it was well worth it I wanted the model above it was so cute.

The Heat Is On! – How To Handle It! – Fotd + Reviews

Oh my how hot is it? For most people 20 C is just fine or in some cases classed as cold weather unless you live at the north pole. For me this is my own little nightmare every year. We already have ice cubes ready, lots of ice pops and almost every window in the house open. I’m sure I’ll get used to it but there are some tricks I have mainly good make up that gets me through this heat.

The Heat Is On – No Melt Downs Here

I very recent purchase was picked out as I just wanted to try it out. It’s the Revlon Colourstay in Buff, I applied this then in a moment of hope tried it with the Benefit Porefessional Primer. Let’s just say this freakin worked, no rolling or smearing just a flawless poreless finish. I even layered foundation back over it and there was no issue I may have a winner for favourite drugstore foundation but I will keep trying it out and see.I then powdered using Mac Studio Fix which depending on the foundation underneath fixes any oil slick shiny face making an appearance. I always do blusher next then follow it up with the Urban Decay Setting Spray to stop the face looking powdery in an instant. I’ve starting spraying it on the back of my hand then dabbing a powder brush into it so I don’t end up with an odd wet patch and can spread the spray more evenly where I want it.

Next is the eyes, I’ve been dabbling again with the Laura Mercier Long Wear Eye Pencils using the shade Espresso to define but be more day time that using black. You have to sharpen it as it’s really soft but with a point I can get a reasonably good line. Sharpening does feel to me like a huge waste though but it’s the best way of doing it. On hot days like this it’s perfect as it just doesn’t budge. A single coat of the Revlon PhotoReady 3D Mascara in Black is just enough to define the eyes. I added a little contour into the sockets using the Natural Collection Eye Shadow in Milk Chocolate. I did this with the eyeshadow brush at the top of the photo, it’s from Wilkisons and was 50p (no discount) just a cheap synthetic brush that’s perfect for just this job.Picks up shadow and is very flat but the bristles are long enough to curve to the shape of the eye.

To finish it off I used the Nyc Applicious Glossy Balm In Red Apple as it give a tint of colour while also keeping my lips hydrated. When you don’t have a mirror at hand it’s still easy to apply. I did my do my eyebrows just a little but the way I always do them with the Natural Collections Eyeshadow in Crushed Walnut.

Last Saturday I wanted to go a little bit more on the au naturel side with my make up but having just bough the Smashbox Always Sharp Eyeliner I decided that I would make it the focal point of my look.

While writing down all the bits I’ve used I came to realised how expensive a set these are together , at least for me anyway. It’s half expensive and half super cheap and yet they do work well together. I’m happy to have found a foundation my Porefessional primer works with but not so sure completely on the shade match but I’ll explain that most likely next week once I’ve fully road tested the Smashbox foundation. Some of these bits could easily be swaped out for other more affordable ones which I hope to find in the future. I’d love to find a dupe for my Clinique Poppy Plum blend as it’s just my absolute go to shade for blusher for my pale skin.

January Wish List or Virtual Shopping without the Spending

January Wish List
This is my wish list for January and more likely spilling into February. I spent s fair bit over Christmas and so when I do spend this year I’m hoping to reign in the shopping and spend more wisely.

Lip treatment
£7.50 – hotelchocolat.com
This would probably be the most used but least needed as I can get cheaper lip balms , I’m just intrested to see what Hotel Chocolat have in the way of beauty and I know I can’t afford any of the other products they have released so this would be a nice piece to at least try.

Face care
£8 – thebodyshop.co.uk
As you know I’ve fallen for lip scrubs this month but I think this would be a good travel alternative as it’s in a lipstick bullet but also alot less messy.

Garnier beauty product
£5.99 – superdrug.com
I’m using The Body Shop Vitamin E moisturiser at the moment but I’m not quite sure it’s enough for my rather dry skin so this could be an alternative.

Eyeshadow
£7.50 – marksandspencer.com
Mmmm, define need… I saw amodelreccomends.com use this and I’ve kinda wanted it since and it is on offer at £5 so could be worth a swatch in store.

Max factor lipstick
£7.99 – superdrug.com
This I keep coming back too and I can’t decide if it’s the luxe packaging or just the rasin shade but I’m drawn to it every time.

Matte nude lipstick
£6 – marksandspencer.com
Can’t get away from the mattes, can’t be helped I like my lipstick to last and I’m still in search of a good nude.

Urban Decay eye pencil makeup
£12 – debenhams.com
Don’t even own a Naked palette yet but I think this is a great concept , four different double ended eye pencils each to coordinate with the Naked palettes and even if I don’t have one it’s a good way to try two shades for the price of one.

Maybelline Expert Wear Blush Flash Plum
£5.19 – superdrug.com
Matte plum blush , always on the look out for a good drugstore version of my Clinique Poppy Plum blend , this probably isn’t it but I ‘d have to buy it and find out , just in case.

Yes £15 for a highlighter but this really does say luxe all over it , it’s so pretty and I’m hoping it’s as pretty in store.

T Zone Nose Strips X6’S at Superdrug
£5.05 – superdrug.com
Blackheads are evil and they live on my nose and I must eradicate them, probably not the best way to do it but I haven’t found a solution yet so we will see.

MUA Cream Blush Scrummy at Superdrug
£2.50 – superdrug.com
Totally should have picked this one up when I saw it in store at Christmas and I talked myself out of it, for what reasons I don’t know. This is at the top of the list to try out.

I’ve been looking at these for a while and I’m not sure why I haven’t picked a few up yet ,not heard much said about them but the Peacock Tail shade is very similar to a Mac eyeshadow I was looking at but I don’t know if I can make it work, think this could be a good test run or just a cheaper way to tell if I can pull it off.

Always thinking about serums , just still haven’t parted with the cash to get one. All so expensive and I get why but this is about as cheap as they come unless I pick up the one Botanics do.
