The Balm - Superdrug

The company’s wearable colors and fantastic formulas allow women to release their inner artist so they can look and feel fabulous. In 2004, Marissa Shipman, founder of theBalm, realized there were a few simple products she needed to help her look and feel glam all the time-and if she needed them, other women did too… Marissa decided to indulge her cosmetic curiosities and went to Amazon where she bought 11 books on how to make makeup and started mixing in her kitchen. – The Balm

The Balm

I’m really excited to show you what Superdrug will be having on their website hopefully very soon. It’s on their but no stock is available yet. We’ve all heard about Mary and Cindy Luminiser and the Nude Tude Palette from a lot of bloggers. The Balm can be go online from other retailers but the hope is that it will eventually be in store too. I hate buying online, especially makeup and would be happy to be able to swatch this in store. If The Balm did go into stores it would be the most expensive brand that Superdrug offer as far as I know. I know I can’t wait to know more but when I do I’ll let you know.

Summer Makeup Collections I Like

Summer 2014 Makeup

These are all the latest Summer 2014 collections that I’m fancying trying out. They aren’t the full collections just the pieces I think I would personally use. I seem to be addicted to bright shades of green in the nail varnish loves, especially the N07 Gel look nails stand out most. I really would love to try out the Benefit mini set as it means I can see what all three shades to see how they would look on me without having to buy the full sizes. I’m very intrested in the Sleek foundation as it has a few very light looking shades which is great for drugstore makeup. This along with the bronzer block which could be a way for me to get into bronzer , the one above is the darker on the two versions and I would go for the lighter one which looks suited to pale skin. I’m unsure on the new Sleek palette but I’d like to give it a go in store and swatch it. The Collection Mardi Gra pieces are budget friendly but very suited to updating your nails to suit summer. I’m even tempted by the yellow shade which is very Dispicable Me minion-esque. I like what Gosh have dome with the Lip Laquers , the shade above is the darkest their is and the range is mainly shades of pink, the one I like has a plum tone to it.

Saving Up For Something Special

Saving Up For Something Special

Bobbi Brown Tinted Lip Balm in Pink Raspberry

£15 – bobbibrown.co.uk
I’m a little bit half and half about this one after all it’s a lip balm. Then again it’s a Bobbi Brown Lip Balm it interests me enough to want to at lest test it out and see if it’s all that different. Also wondering how much pigment will show up on the lips as I this would be an easy to wear summer shade.

Out of all of Macs latest collection nothing really stood out that I really wanted to buy into this limited edition collection. The Alluring Aquatics is pretty compared to the standard black but not enough to sucker me in this time. I did however like the idea of having a Mac nail varnish and this one is super gorgeous. Submerged is an almost holographic shade with multi glistening shades that make me want to try it.

£260 – selfridges.com
This is what I would call a crazy amount to spend on a bag but for as long as Marc Jacob has been on my radar I’ve wanted to own one of his bags. This is a lovely messenger bag and is exactly what I want and would be perfect as my weekend use bag. Yes £260 is alot but I think I’ll be saving up for this one over the next year, if not this one then maybe look in the Christmas sales.

Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation Stick
£29 – bobbibrown.co.uk
Ever since I saw this on Gossmakeup on Youtube I have wanted to try it. I’ve been having trouble with foundation for the last month or so and think this could be a good one to try. It used to be full coverage but now is more or a medium coverage that can be built up, it has lots of shades so more chance of a match.

Mac Sized To Go Zoomlash Mascara
£8 – selfridges.com
I know this isn’t going to burst the bank but that’s kinda the point for me. I only wear make up at the weekends so this would be the perfect way to try out a few Mac mascaras without having to spend quite as much money on something that might not suit.

The packaging alone makes me want to own this the set. I think this would be the perfect set out of all the gift boxes that Charlotte Tilbury does. It contains everything you need to recreate a vintage vamp look. Expensive maybe but I would adore something like this and it comes with a makeu bag to hold all your lovely pieces of makeup.

£24 – harrods.com
I can’t comment on how good the lipstick is but the shade Mayday just sang to my heart when I saw it. it’s a dark raspberry red shade and the tube just screams luxury. I’ve spent may a time swatching at the Dior counters seeing if a lipstick would suit so maybe next time I’ll take the plunge.

Bobbi Brown Art stick
£19 – selfridges.com
I believe this is part of a growing obsession with all things pencil related, in makeup I mean. I love my Nars Velvet Mattes so I can’t wait to try these out. It’s a shame it’s exclusive to Selfridges so if I do want it there will be some traveling involved to get it.

Illamasqua Masquara Raven
£16.50 – illamasqua.com
I’ve spent the last year pondering getting something from Illamasqua and I’ve changed my mind every time but I don’t know why but I keep seeing this and wanting it. A little bit mascara-centric lately, I’m trying to figure out if it’s worth spending the cash on something you’re supposed to throw out every 3 months.

MAC Sized to Go False Lashes Extreme Black
£10 – selfridges.com
Another mini Mac mascara because I wanna try out both. I love Mac but usually guilt trip myself out of buying bits so this wouldn’t be so bad I’m thinking. A way of having something special without breaking the already broken bank.

Makeup Revolution – New Budget Brand by dupesareagirlsbestfriend
I’m sure everyones already heard about the new brand Makeup Revolution that has already appeared online at Superdrug but will be making it’s ways into store soon, very soon I’m hoping. How many versions of a nude eyeshadow could they make? I’m loving the very similar if not a dupe for the Stila foil eyeshadows which are about a sixth of the price? Aswell as this their #happy lips balms look an awful lot like the Clarins Smooth instant lipbalm, what do you think? No to mension the very possible dupes of the Urban Decay Naked palettes? I wonder what Daniel Sandler is thinking about those liquid blushers too? I’m not saying by any means the quality will hold up to the high end but I can only dream and get hold of them for myself.
As for the crazy shades in the corner I doubt I will ever go for those but I thought it fair to show them off seen as Mac have a collection in the works for Summer 2014 called Playland. I has some very similar shades including a yellow lipstick , not sure if this collection will be coming to UK shores but even if it is maybe playing around with a £1 version would be better to see if it suits you sir?
