As a lover of matte lipstick, I thought liquid lipstick would be its evolved easier to apply cousin. However as much as I’ve mastered lipstick wearing a liquid formula has been a bit of a nightmare! I’ve bought them, applied them, got them on then taken them off again. I know eyeliner can sense fear but liquid lipsticks give me the shakes! However I may have found a winner! There was a time when I swore I’d never wear lipstick. I just couldn’t understand how you do day to day things while wearing it. Drinking, eating or even touching my own face becomes a bit of a nightmare. Over the last few years I’ve slowly incorporated it into my makeup routine. This is to the point where if I’m in a rush I’ll choose a lip product over creating an eye look. I like how I can brighten my mood in an instant with a red or bring out the my old goth side with a purple lip. So these are my tips to keep my lip colour lasting all day long. When I buy make-up especially the more expensive brands like Mac if if doesn’t work I tend to avoid it. I feel guilty that I spent money on something that is now going to waste. After the first few attempts at wearing Mac Diva ended in dry cracked lips it got pushed away in favour of other lipsticks. In my obsession to have a burgundy lip colour that truely lasted all day & searched for a magic fix.
Originally I only lasted about 3 hours before I had to wipe it off & get the my lip balm out. I’ve always wanted to get Ruby Woo but didn’t because of this issue, until now.. Continue reading “The Fix For Mac Matte Lipsticks – A Diva In Autumn”
So this weekend has been really fun, we went to the cinema which feels like it’s been forever since we moved but got to see 300 : Rise of an Empire which was a good sequel but not what a lot of people will expect. We saw it in Imax 3D, the screen is massive so very immersive but I didn’t really feel the 3D made much impact it was all depth. I picked up the Coca Cola tee from Primark which was £6 so a bargain and I love all things Coca Cola branded.
With the cherry coke shade theme I decided to use my Topshop Lip Liner in Deception (which is out of stock online) which I got recently and applied this all over my lips as a base for the Rimmel Kate Matte Lipstick in 107. I ended up just dabbing the Rimmel lightly on top to darken the liner as I like the liners shade it’s quite a dark pink berry shade. I know that nude is making a come back and it seems to be everywhere on the red carpets but I just can’t put the dark shades away just yet. Its not officially spring until March 20th/21st so that’s when I will start trying out some softer looks. My base was all Mac as a few recent drugstore picks haven’t quite worked out for my pale skin. I did however get a new mascara, I pushed the boat out and spent a whole £1.50 while the 2True Pro Lengthening mascara is half price at Superdrug. Super cheap but I’m actually liking it but still getting to grips with the plastic spiky wand. Using the Bourjois Extreme black eye shadow and my setting spray I created a smudges eyeliner then finished the look off with a dab of Revlon cream blush on.

These are the two MUA Matte Lipsticks I picked up from Superdrug I think I would have picked up one of each shade had they even had stock in as they are super value at £1 each.
In the top left and bottom right are each of the tubes partially deconstructed by that I mean the colour at the end of the tubes of lipstick are the product. This is the first time I’ve seen or noticed this done and I think its a great idea when you can’t open the sealed lipstick but you an see what your getting. That bare in mind though when you swatch them they are sheer mattes as you can see compared with the Rimmel Kate Matte which is opaque. So it shows a dark colour with Wild Berry but in fact it’s nothing like it in use. The other image is to show because they are only a £1 the quality of the tube and how the lipstick is held in place is rubbish as pressure as you apply it bends the lipstick over so when you twist it back in you end up with the lines cut into the lipstick. It’s a cheap enough lipstick for this not to matter much in my opinion as you can easily replace it if you wanted to be fussy over the appearance after all it’s white plastick with silver writing.
At first test I wrote off Totally nude as it didn’t work well at first it’s almost like a coating over the lipstick you have to break to get to the colour. The actually texture is quite nice but it’s a matter a layering up the colour so takes a little longer to apply but means you can choose how light or dark you have it. That in mind the nude doesn’t suit me and washes my lip colour out but maybe would work on someone else.

This is a clear favourite and is not what I expect but is much more wearable and is buildable with a suprisingly even shade. This is easy to apply even for me and didn’t settle in the creases of my lips. I did put lip balm underneath but blotted just before adding the lipstick. I love the sheer berry stain it added and came between matte and a little satin in effect. I’m not sure how good wear time is but its easy to reapply without even having a mirror with you without having to worry about it.
