April 2014 Favourites - repeated use and repurchase

April has been all over the place for me, I don’t know what’s going on and how to get back in the blogging spirit. I’m a little bit lost which is why my posts have been a little on and off but I’m hopeful that by the weekend I’ll be back on track. My April favourites have been a matter of make up being the easiest application that I know I couldn’t do without when I’m in a rush along with a new hair hero.

Repeated Use & Repurchase

Mua Undress Me Too Palette – This is just too easy to make use off because I find I’m a little hesitant at using certain make up I own so I don’t do damage. Sounds daft but I just don’t have to worry with this one. I can stick my fingers straight in and apply and it just works. They aren’t perfect but I can take it for travel and if it breaks it’s only £4 to replace. This may not happen to everyone but at least 3 makeup items I have now have holes when my finger nails gone. One of the a sleek blusher because for the life of me I can’t open in normally without making a bigger mess each time with it.

Bourjois Intense Eyeshadow – Sometimes I can do eyeliner and others it’s half an hour later and it looks like I passed it to a child and told them to draw. With this baked eyeshadow and, an angled eyeliner brush and some setting spray (or water even) I can. It’s a little more involved than a khol but it’s fixable quicker and is casual but defined. I beautiful eyeliner with a slightly smokey edge.

Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencils – Like I said I’ve been in a rush lately so lipstick got pushed to the back in favour of lip pencils. This does include the likes of the Revlon Matte Balms but Nars is still easier. The shade Sex Machine for every day use, it’s my lips but better tone where I don’t have to be even slightly perfect and Damned that got used for a 1940’s hen do in which bright red (Rimmel Kate 107) was just too much work when alcohol and food is involved. These are one of a few mattes that doesn’t dry your lips out as soon as you wear it.

BlowPro Damage Control Conditioning Mask – I’m already two thirds of the way through this bottle and I just know I need to repurchase this as soon as it’s finished. This has changed my hair from 20 minutes brushing my hair like crazy to less than 5. My hair is getting super long and I have abused it alot in the past. I have stopped dying it for as long as I can stand or until I see any streak of grey. This is a protein mask with shea butter which I can leave on for the entire time I’m in the bath and it seems to fix the breakages while still keeping my hair smooth. Denman and Blowpro have becaome best friend with my hair.

Favourites I’ve Loved In February 2014

I’ll apologise now for how late that my favourites are only just going up now but I promise there shouldn’t be any big breaks for a while. These favourites are a little obvious with the release of those matte balms and my love of The Body Shop but I just kept coming back to these in particular. I’ve been trying to take better care of my hair this month and I’m considering trying the Lush Henna again.

Febuary 2014 Favourites

Dove Nourishing Oil Care

This is a fantastic light weight bio phase spray leave in oil now that’s a bit of a mouth full. It’s one of my favourites because it smells fab to the point of spraying it just to add the scent to my hair and really makes my hair feel like I’ve not completely wrecked it. It’s not a miracle worker but I can feel the difference this has made and would love to try out the other version for coloured hair.It helps keep those dry ends from looking so frizzy and smooths then down.

The Body Shop Tea Tree Toner

As you can see it’s almost empty and this for me has really helped keep my skin clear and I went into more detail here. It makes my skin tingle a bit but not anything I have worried over as it’s really helped with spots. Only minor annoyance is the residue that you have to shake each morning to get it to mix back in to the liquid, bearing that in mind I’ve already repurchased a new one.

Revlon Colour Burst Matte Balm in Sultry

There has been a divide in the blogging world over these balms. Some hate the and some like me just think they will be one of my long time favourites. I’ve bought one of the less bright shades which for me is more wearable. If you’ve read about lipsticks from me you know I have a love for mattes. These go on very easily and this lasts around 4 hours before I can see signs of wear , yes the balm dries out but mattes tend too these just take a bit longer. I hope they bring out more easy wear shades rather than those crazy bright ones as they are so easy and quick to apply. See a sneak preview when I first got mine here.

Laura Mercier Longwear Creme Eye Pencil

I’m still working on getting these to do more than just my waterline but the shade Espresso has become a great way of keeping my love of liner going while toning it down at the same time. They are really creamy and last most of the day but I’m trying to wear it above the line as when I swatch them on my had it really is smudge proof I just haven’t got the technique right yet.

Neutrogena Nourishing Lip Care with Nordic Berry

A very thick balm consistency with a nice natural berry scent that has become part of my morning routine. The hydration lasts much longer than my Nivea Hydro Care that I use at work and I prefer the berry scent to the classic Nivea one. Great for applying before I start putting make up on as it really softens the lips before I add colour to them.

Revlon Cream Blush in Charmed

I had a moment in Boots 3 for 2 when I didn’t know what to get as a third when it was just on Revlon and I ended up getting this. It’s the first cream blush I own and it’s one of those product where It would be near impossible to over apply unless you scooped it out. I can just dab my finger tip into it and take my time applying where I want it but can be blended out easily if you do go wrong. Only issue is I don’t much like the other two shades available and wish they had more choice. Charmed is a natural flushed shade in a satin finish.

My empties will be appearing in a few days if you like seeing what I’ve been using up this month, hope you have a lovely relaxing Sunday.

January 2014 Favourties Dupes Are A Girls Best Friend - mi

This is my very first favorites I’ve actually done as I wanted to have a good play around with my style, make up and occasionally my hair before I did. Make up will always be the main part but I’m sure as my skincare improves more will work it’s way in.

Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil £17.50 – This is easy to apply if you don’t have much time. This lasts really well and is easy to re-apply after eating or drinking as it does wear a little. This is a beautiful dark magenta that is very striking.

Mac Matchmaster Foundation 35 ml £27 – Now I loved this when I got it , then went off it over Christmas as my skin got very dry and this doesn’t like dry skin. But I’ve altered my skincare routine and added more moisture to counteract winter and I’m in love again with it. Nice medium coverage with a good shade match that feels light on the skin and makes it silky smooth.See my first impressions review for more details.

Bobbi Brown Creamy Matte Lip Colour in Razzberry £19 – This is my “if it was the only lipstick in the world” that I have I would be happy . The texture is creamy but then settles down to a matte finish that doesn’t dry outs your lips. A bold and opaque shade, there’s no hiding in plain sight with this one . Razzberry my red berry love. See my full review here.

Lush Santa’s Lip Scrub –  This has just been a game changer for me, any lipstick that I owned previous to this that hasn’t really sat right with me or my lips I’ve now gone back over and a few have worked so much better. No more dry skin to ruin application or give lipstick a place to hide between any line. More information here.

Mua Bon Bon Blush £1 –  A highly pigmented blusher in a flushed winter pink cheek shade. You really can’t go wrong with this budget brand having so many lovely shades in their blusher range and from just a £1.
