That’s not so say the bearded lady’s of the world can’t use this too! It’s just more likely than not there will be a bloke in your life, friend, your fella, a brother or maybe your dad that needs some beard T.L.C. I think there’s a set of stages in a beards life that have to happen for it to look & feel good. This is where Kalamazoo comes to the rescue.
That’s not so say the bearded lady’s of the world can’t use this too. It’s just more likely than not there will be a bloke in your life, a boyfriend, a brother or maybe your dad that needs some beard T.L.C. I think there’s a set of stages in a beards life that have to happen for it to look & feel good. This is where Kalamazoo comes to the rescue. After a clean shave it’s not bad but it doesn’t last that long before you get short scratchy stubble, it hurts the girls more than the guys. Then stubble softens, gets a little longer & you can see whether at this stage you have enough hair to not be a patchy beard or they just shave it back off & start again. My fella has been growing his for 5 years, its been cut many times in between otherwise it would now resemble Billy Gibbons.
The Beard Of The House
I love beards on the many handsome fellas of this world but I hate when they look unruly or to the point of resembling Roald Dahl’s Mr Twit. You have to take care of them and my fella has found something he really likes which is what I’m going to show you today.
Kalamazoo – Beard & Facial Wash
The tag line for this Lush product is…
“You don’t have to have a beard to use this … but it helps”
It can be used on anyone’s face hairy or not but it’s great for helping clean skin & beard at the same time. The reason I’ve called it a cleanser over a wash is because every other mans face wash I’ve seen him use have been super foamy, not all SLS based but foamy non the less. Kalamazoo has a fresh pineapple scent without it being overpowering & is a hybrid between a balm & cream cleanser. Solid enough that you can turn the pot on its head & it not fall our but soft enough to scoop out what you need.
What’s in Kalamazoo?
This has fresh pineapple juice has enzymes to cleanse both beard & skin. The almond oil, jojoba oil & cupuacu butter are a hydrating moisturiser. When I think of this product it has all the qualities of the new cleansing conditioners that cam out last year but for face & hair instead.
Does it work?
Each time he used this he takes about a flat teaspoons worth out & massages it both into his dry beard & skin. He occasionally uses it at the sink but for the most benefit he uses it twice a week in the bath. He will leave it on for 5 minutes to let it really soak it almost like a mask. I can vouch for how soft his beard is afterwards & we’ve both notice how much his skin has cleared up on his forehead, but these are his own words.
It’s the first thing I’ve found that softens & it doesn’t feel like wire after a few days. It cleans better than most face washes & doesn’t make his skin feel dry or stripped afterwards. The smell lingers for a while but only lightly & not like aftershave smell like some face washes do. The other thing is it’s not exactly expensive for what it does & I’ll keep repurchasing it – Fella
Kalamazoo at Lush is £6.50 for 110g or £12 for 240g. The smaller pot he’s been using about 3 weeks, 2-3 times a week & is about 1/3 of the way through it.
I’d also like to make a formal apology to him for making him cut it again but it was getting a bit messy. Let me know what you think shorter or longer? To say sorry I’m adding a link to Pies, Pizza & Pasta his website that’s all about tasty food, so please check it out.
Before I Stole His Beard
After I Stole His Beard
I think he looks nice both ways but I’m just trying to keep it under control until October is over & done with. If you don’t know why then see my Ways To Relax post there’s more information there as I’ve been a bit of a stress head!
What do you think of my bearded fella? Long or short beard? Or do you prefer no beard at all?
